Board of Directors
our goal is to ensure the smooth operation of the BSFC by organizing and, when necessary, directing the activities of the BSFC's members. A Director is a voting member of the Board of Directors.
Megha Krishnan
Chair of the Board
Megha has been with the Food Collective since Fall 2018, and has previously served as a Communications Committee Coordinator on the Board of Directors. The Board Chair’s role is to facilitate communication and cooperation between coordinators and to encourage accountability within the Board of Directors. In this role, they hope to facilitate board members’ success, strengthen the structure of the Collective, and to serve Food Collective members and the Berkeley community as a whole.
Jade Norton
Field Coordinator
Field team mobilizes supporters for a specific campaign to bring key messages to a wider, targeted audience through one-on-one organizing conversations to invite them to take specific, escalating actions to advance the cause.
Natalie Gaffney
Storefront Coordinator
Natalie Gaffney started working with the Food Collective last fall semester as Storefront Coordinator. This semester, they continue working in this position with the goal of bolstering strong committee support in the efforts of improving the design and functionality of the Berkeley Student Food Collective through a streamlined system to reach a wider community not on social media, as well as organized systems for labeling products that integrate creativity and personalization.
Grace Ochs
Education Coordinator
Grace Ochs is one of the Education Co-Coordinators here at the Berkeley Student Food Collective. This semester the education committee is working to lead meaningful workshops on issues pervasive in our food system and help BSFC members grow as activists.
Jessica Shim
Communications Coordinator
Jessica joined the Berkeley Student Food Collective during Fall 2021 as Communications Coordinator, and she is very excited to continue on with her position this semester! Jessica and her communications committee members hope to use their creativity to create and design content for social media, as well as highlight the works of other committees.
Arpine Sinani
Product Coordinator
Arpine Sinani is a sophomore at UC Berkeley who is passionate about sustainable agriculture and food systems. She will be serving as Data Coordinator and wants to use data coming from the store as a guide to make improvements for the collective.
Annie Miller
Education Coordinator
Annie first joined the food collective in spring 2020 and has been involved with the education committee since fall 2020. She joined the board last semester as co-coordinator of education. The education committee is going to work on member education events on organizing and the role of the Collective in the greater community.
Jierel Almario
Finance Coordinator
Jierel joined the Food Collective in Fall 2021. As Finance Coordinator and together with the Finance Committee, he looks forward to increasing financial transparency with members as well as tackling projects aimed at ensuring the financial sustainability of the Food Collective.
Naomi Primero
Alumni Coordinator
The Alumni Board Representative is a non-coordinator Board member serving a 2 year term to provide organizational context and expertise and institutional memory for the Berkeley Student Food Collective: a student-run, student-governed, nonprofit grocery.
Interns
Our interns were drawn from a partnership with the public service center, and they will spend a year learning about the inner workings of the collective.
Diego Corona-Munoz
Diego began working for the Food Collective in the Fall 2021 semester as part of the Public Service Internship offered by the Public Service Center at UC Berkeley. This semester, Diego, alongside the store staff and advisors, hope to better increase operations and strategy to more efficiently serve the needs of the Berkeley community and our store members.
Yifan Ding
Yifan has been working as an intern at BSFC since fall 2021. This semester, as a continuing intern, she will be working on many new and exciting projects like creating TV content to promote BSFC in the Berkeley community.
STAFF
Staff serves at the members’ leisure and works to interpret the will and directives of membership and board.
Jane Tovar
Data Democratization Associate
Jane began working at the Collective as a staff member after she stalked the food collective on Instagram when everything was online. This semester, as a staff member, she will continue to help with administrative tasks and advocate for members. She is excited to work with the board and members to see how she can be of best use to the collective.
Jesse Clements
Health Regrowth Associate
Jesse has been involved in the Food Collective for over three years as an Education coordinator, Board Chair and now student staff. Jesse works on strengthening the Collective's organizing work, through conversations with the campus and broader community.

Data Democratization Associate
Ty (they/them) is a second year UCB student studying Environmental and Agricultural Policy through Conservation and Resource Studies. They are also involved in the Berkeley Student Cooperative as the Sustainability Coordinator. In their free time they like playing music and being in nature. This semester, they’re helping the food collective be more efficient with how we use our resources, plan for our future, and operate as a collective and as a business.
